...Mixed Wintry Precipitation Expected Tuesday... Following the passage of a strong cold front Monday evening, rain will expand over the Midsouth in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday. Rain coverage will likely be greatest along and south of Interstate 40. The rain will likely mix with sleet and light snow Tuesday morning along and north of Interstate 40, including the Memphis metro area. With temperatures in the mid and upper 30s, any accumulations of sleet and snow will likely remain confined to grassy areas. The rain/snow/sleet mixture will move into north Mississippi late Tuesday afternoon and early evening, while ending over west Tennessee and east Arkansas. Temperatures will cool below freezing overnight Tuesday night, after the precipitation has ended. However, given light winds, moisture may remain on bridges, possibly freezing and creating some slick spots on bridges early Wednesday morning.
